The Amp Net Zero team was engaged to develop 4.2 MW of solar PV projects across fourteen (14) facilities in Ontario.

The rooftop of One York, in the heart of downtown Toronto, is home to highest solar installation in Canada, at 35 stories above grade. Responsibilities included but were not limited to: applying for FIT program, permitting, design and engineering, procurement and construction, financing, monitoring, and operations management.

IKEA engaged the Amp Net Zero team to develop 1.1MW of rooftop solar across three of their facilities.

Amp was selected through a competitive process to provide all design and engineering, procurement and construction. Amp worked closely with the IKEA team to develop and construct three custom systems to accommodate the requirements of each location. The three projects were constructed on-time and on-budget.

As Part of Toyota’s Global 2050 Environment Challenge, which aims to go beyond zero environmental impact and achieve a net positive impact on the environment by 2050, the company set a target of eliminating virtually all C02 emissions from its vehicles, as well as from its operations.

In order to support Toyota’s objectives, Amp Canada designed, developed and constructed a 964 kW rooftop solar project on-time and on-budget, adhering to stringent requirements brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The project was managed end-to-end by Amp,  including all interactions with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, including Net Metering arrangements with the local connecting utility.

Final phases of Construction and Commissioning were successfully and safely completed in the fall of 2022. Amp is managing the ongoing Operations, Monitoring, Reporting and Maintenance of the solar array for Toyota Canada.

Xeni Gwet’in First Nations

Amp has developed and built a complete micro-grid systemin the Nemiah Valley, BC, 250km North of Vancouver and approximately 100km from the nearest electrical grid, for the Xeni Gwet’in First Nations band Government.

The Xeni Gwet’in First Nation is one of six Tsilhqot’in communities that form the Tsilhqot’in Nation, consisting of 74 residences spanning an area from West of William’s Lake, from the Fraser River to Coast Mountains. The remote community wanted access to reliable and affordable electricity, while preserving the natural beauty and quality of the land and air that surrounds it.

The deployment of the micro-grid system significantly improved this remote community’s electrical infrastructure, resulted in employment and training for local indigenous residents, enhanced system reliability and reduced its dependence on diesel fuel by over 60% representing an overall reduction in GHG emissions in excess of 4,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually.
